Director of the Starlight Foundation, Doctor in Astrophysics and Researcher at the Institute of Astrophysics of the Canary Islands (IAC), is a member of staff at the IAC and is a Senior Engineer. She did her doctoral thesis in Extragalactic strophysics (Bulges of Galaxies) at the IAC, and at the Institute of Astrophysics in Paris. She is a member of the Sky Quality Group of the IAC for the Characterization of the Canary Observatories. She has a hundred publications in scientific journals and contributions to national and international congresses, and more than 500 outreach contributions. It has participated in 22 national and international R&D projects. Referee of articles for scientific journals and project adviser of the State Research Agency of Spain. Her outstanding contributions include the site selection for the Gran Telescopio de Canarias (GTC, 10.4m) and participation in the site selection committees of the European Extremely Large Telescope (E-ELT). She has recently collaborated in the Cherenkov Telescope Array
(CTA), the European Solar Telescope (EST), and the Thirty Meter Telescope (TMT).
Advisor and director of courses of the Starlight Foundation. Auditor of 19 Starlight
Tourist Reservations and Destinations. Professor of Astronomy and Astrotourism in the Programme for Adults and Seniors of the La Laguna University for the last 20 years. Member of the International Astronomical Union, the Spanish Society of Astronomy, the Spanish Network of Studies of Light Pollution, and coordinator of the Climate and Air Quality Commission of the Climate Observatory of the Government of the Canary Islands. She is part of the group of women scientists and technologists of the Canary Islands elected by the Government of the Canary Islands. She has recently received an award for her research career granted by the City of Santa Cruz de Tenerife on the occasion of International Women’s Day.
