Fabio Falchi, physicist, has worked on light pollution for more than 25 years. He is one of the authors of the First Atlas of Artificial Night Sky Brightness, published in 2001 on the Monthly Notices of the Royal Astronomical Society, and led the group of scientists that produced the New World Atlas, published on Science Advances by the American Association for the Advancement of Science. The New Atlas reached the TOP 10 of the Altmetric score among the 2.7 million scientific researches published in 2016 and was covered by more than 450 news stories in the media.
Beyond his research activities he also worked at the political level by helping the Italian Government, several local regional governments and foreign administrations (e.g. Chile, Spain) in preparing measures to abate light pollution and limit the energy and money waste connected to artificial lights.
His dream is to give back the possibility for people to witness directly the wonders of the Universe with their own eyes, like it always was.
